ESTUDOS DE JOGO Ambientes virtuais e inmersião em videojogos [2]

Os estudos de mundos virtuais em videogames, desde que destacados da dimensão técnica, foram abordados por psicólogos, antropólogos e sociólogos. De acordo com Galarneau, os jogadores são designados para esses mundos a m de implementar sua capacidade de agir e se dar a conhecer. Os estudos sobre a imersão no videojogo são abordados como "presença" “presence”, o signicado deste processo centra-se no envolvimento amplo, consciente e total em um videojogo, o que também é chamado de "imersão total", ou "Presença total", isso não deve ser confundido com o uso descontrolado de videojogos ou "jogo extremo", enquanto a imersão é uma experiência, um processo complexo usado para estabelecer ou medir o grau de envolvimento no videojogo.
