Abstract

It is considered to address the analysis of the chronicle "Medellín, under the miracle of the half light" (1993) by Juan José Hoyos Naranjo, where a narrative impregnated with orality and marked by complex discursive procedures is presented. Hoyos' work intertwines enjoyment and nostalgia, offering a deep understanding of how communities have intervened in the transformations of Medellín, a process inevitably tinged with violence. As an attentive observer of his city, Hoyos uses everyday elements such as bars, objects and the urban environment to capture the essence of Medellín and outline the profile of the urban subject. His critical approach exposes both public and biographical aspects, especially his experience as a journalist in the 1980s, a period in which he faced, as a reporter, the power dynamics of drug trafficking and the drastic urban changes of the city. This chronicle not only documents these events, but also derives from his journalistic work, consolidating itself as a piece that merges his professional career with a critical and personal vision of the evolution of Medellín.
