DIGITAL LITERACY IN THE CONTEXT OF UNIVERSITY EDUCATION

Abstract

Digital literacy fits into the movement of innovation in higher education that involves renovation of contents, methods, practices and means, new types of links and collaboration with the community. In that sense, these reforms go through technological innovation but perhaps the most important, educational innovation. Therefore, it is required of new practices that integrate teaching tools more appropriate to design quality learning activities for students.

In the United States have pointed out some categories competency for students from different educational levels, including: creativity and innovation; communication and collaboration; research and information management; critical thinking; problems solving and decisions making; digital citizenship, etc. An apprentice could be located as navigator: explore and acquire knowledge using different technological resources and making decisions in choosing them. A co-author is trained to develop their own annotations and introduce new pieces of information and links; an intentional apprentice: Set goals and develop a plan to achieve them. A programmer: designs and develops new resources, from management or creation of different software.

The article set out the skills related to digital literacy, opportunities and requirements are given for integrating ICT into society of learning and intelligence.

Santiago Roger Acuña, Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (UASLP)

Doctor en Tecnología Educativa por la Universidad de Salamanca (2005). Máster en Intervención Psicológica en Contextos Educativos, por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (1997) y en Tecnología Educativa por la Universidad de Salamanca (España, 1999). Licenciado en Psicología por la Universidad de Tucumán, Argentina. Pertenece al Sistema Nacional de Investigadores de México (Nivel 1). Desde el año 2012 es profesor investigador de la Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (UASLP), adscrito a la Facultad de Ciencias de la Comunicación.
