Abstract

Communication between science and society is very important: informing the public on issues related to science and technology; It informs science about the social perceptions and expectations; puts scientific experience available to the public, has an impact on the design of policies and programs in creating, affects the legitimacy of research and plays a prominent role in the governance of science, technology and risk.

The text makes an historical summary of the disclosure and scientific journalism. Notes that in education, information and shaping public opinion about science, medicine and the environment are multiple cultural and social actors in its dissemination.

The author argues that it remains a challenge to disseminate science a useful and valuable for both science and society itself and that the solution is not to provide more information about science, but in a more effective communication and dialogue. Keyword
