Small Business’s Performance from the Competitive and Manufacturing Strategies: An empirical study in Oaxaca, Mexico.

The majority of Business performance studies are developed in an economic context different from emerging ones. This study analyzes the relationship between manufacturing and competitive strategies, and how they affect small businesses’ performance located in Oaxaca, Mexico. Data from forty pottery businesses of San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca are analyzed. It was found that manufacturing strategies of flexibility and delivery are associated with the competitive strategy of differentiation, whereas, cost leadership had no significant associations. Moreover, the competitive strategy of differentiation was the most influential on performance while manufacturing strategies play a partial mediating effect. Strategic alternatives derived from the analysis of an economic emerging and subsistence context.Article Metrics
