A simulator of a minimally invasive procedure must faithfully represent the characteristics of the tissues involved. In this article, a physical model of the skin, muscle and vein for a subclavian central venous access puncture simulator in pediatrics is presented and were implemented by using platinum silicone, which could be pigmented to give a realistic appearance, elastic, durable and self-sealed after a needle puncture. The elastic properties of the implemented material were evaluated by a tensile test on the prototype developed finding an elastic modulus in average of 10MPa, similarities to previous values reported in the literature. Also some tests of puncture and cut were performed. In addition, the visual appearance and tactile palpation were assessed by the potential users of the simulator, finding it similar to the actual tissues of the subclavian area from a pediatric patient.Article Metrics
