ABSTRACT

The following study was performed at Uraba Antioqueño, where the agricultural evaluation of the Solanum quitoense crop in monoculture and mix systems was performed. For this, two research hypotheses were tested: the first one “it is expected that the S. quitoense crop in association has a better intra specific competence than when it is presented in monoculture” and the second one, “There is a higher production of S. quitoense fruit when there is less interspecific competence”. To evaluate these two hypotheses in 2007 four experimental plots (EP) were established and measured as follow: TTO1: monoculture of S. quitoense TTO2: S. quitoense, plantain, and T. cacao; TTO3 S. quitoense, plantain T. cacao and B. patinoi and the TTO4: S. quitoense, plantain and B. patinoi. In these EP the height (h-cm) of each S. quitoense plant was measured and the number of leaves, flowers and fruits were counted. In the results there are different competition levels with a higher competition in TT3, followed by TT2 and TT4. The EP with the less competence was TT1. Regarding to the production of fruits of S. quitoense, it was found a statistically equal production in TT1, TT2 and TT4. The TT3 presented a difference with a lower production of fruits.
