Abstract

To evaluate the effect of a period of preincubation of bovine oocytes prior to the in vitro maturation (MIV), on the expansion (mucification) and on the rate of nuclear maturation, immature cumulus-oocyte complex (COC) were in vitro matured, with or without preincubation in a supplemented media for 6 hours (treatments PreMIV and MIV, respectively). Once completed the MIV, cumulus-oocyte complex of the two treatments were evaluated to determine their nuclear maturation state, and were classified into one of four categories, depending on the expansion of their cumulus cells (mucification). The results showed that there was no significant statistical difference between the average percentage of nuclear maturation between treatments, while, in the case of the cumulus expansion, statistical superiority was found for the pre-MIV treatment for the maximum expansion category. According to these results, we concluded that, under this experiment conditions, the preincubation prior to MIV has no effect on the rate of nuclear maturation of bovine oocytes; however, it has a favorable effect on COC expansion
}, number={6}, journal={Revista Politécnica}, author={Araque, Neil Vásquez and Chavarría, Natalia Andrea and Ceballos, Claudia Patricia and Betancur, GiovannI Restrepo}, year={2015}, month={jun.}, pages={53–64} }
